Todd Willingham – Innocent and Executed (Nightline Sept 17, 2009 Part 2 of 2)

camerontoddwillingham.com Sign the petition to Governor Rick Perry and the State of Texas to acknowledge that the fire in the Cameron Todd Willingham case was not arson, therefore no crime was committed and on February 17, 2004, Texas executed an innocent man. Aired Sept 17, 2009 Shout this name from the rooftops, Todd Willingham. He was innocent and Texas killed him. US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, in 2006, wrote that, in the modern judicial system there has not been a single casenot onein which it is clear that a person was executed for a crime he did not commit. If such an event had occurred in recent years, we would not have to hunt for it; the innocents name would be shouted from the rooftops. Todd Willingham was executed for arson/murder on February 17, 2004. He professed his innocence from his arrest until he was strapped down on the execution gurney. Now, we know for certain that he was telling the truth. On August 25, 2009, Dr Craig Beyler, the investigator hired by the Texas Forensic Science Commission to review the Willingham case, released his report in which he found that a finding of arson could not be sustained by a scientific analysis. He concluded that the fire in the Willingham case was accidental and not arson. In fact, there was no arson, so there was no crime. Texas executed an innocent person. The proven execution of an innocent person should mean the end of the death penalty in the United States.

OK …there was a new investigative methology to fires at the time , is it true that there were two the same convictions based on old methods, and only the new investigation into fires could only clear one of those two ?

  11. warpedcomedy says:

Unbelievable that in this day and age, a man can be punished for something he didn’t do, just because an idiot judge “feels” he did it.

  12. wolfofthewhitemt says:

Scumbag judge: “I don’t think it’s a good possibility that Todd Willingham told the truth to anybody about anything. He was one of the most completely manipulative individuals you could ever hope to find”

    PROJECTION!

    Oily smirk and all.

Anyhow, what’s up with the “beyond reasonable doubt”, does he even understand what that means? How can this scumbag not be disbarred? >:(

  19. slaskis says:

… sorry not worse, killing someone is the worst thing you can do. But bad enough.

They judged him based on first impression, not real evidence. Sometimes first impression is correct, but many, many times it’s absolutely wrong. And if you sentence someone based on that you will end upp with a whole lot of people being innocent. Keep emotions and your own beliefs out of the courtroom.

I wonder how many innocents USA have killed… and how can someone talk about morality and accept that…

  20. slaskis says:

This is what happens when you put personal beliefs in front of scientific evidence. It’s human to make errors, but when you take away someones life, that error is impossible to try and fix.

What’s worse is how they are all trying to save their own asses now when it’s proven that they killed an innocent man…

  21. KentuckyBordello says:

Texas’ judicial system is a JOKE. Actually, just about the whole American judicial system is. Plain and simple….it doesn’t work.

5 stars, for exposing the “ignorance” in our society and politics.

  22. danielvlee says:

The prosecutor (now judge) Jackson needs to be charged with Murder in the First Degree for the death of Cameron Todd Willingham.

  23. LuskinsConscience says:

Who the hell thinks some rock posters and tattoos equate to evidence of devil worship ?

It’s amazing how these fundamentalists can rationalize the imagined “supernatural” and toss out all reason at the drop of a hat.

I have no doubt these asshats will remain content with themselves using that intellectual “off switch”.

No wonder we had the witch trials in Salem.

  24. momentofsciencetx says:

    speechless.

  25. mejdrich says:

The look on the journalist’s face when the judge talks about heavy metal causing people to kill is exactly the right reaction: are fucking crazy?
