Christians: Does it bother you that there is a Muslim currently serving in the United States Congress?
Keith Ellison (D-Minn) converted to Islam at 19, when he was in college, and was once part of the Nation of Islam. Does it bother you that he serves the people of Minnesota as their elected official? Or is it more important to look at his political accomplishments for the benefit of the USA over his religious beliefs?

yes.
I think that some of the Christians are much more worrying.
Religion is a matter of choice. I don’t care what you are as long as it doesn’t hurt me. Political background is more important.
religion shouldnt matter in politics unless it affects their policy decisions. if you think this matters your probably racist or close-minded
christians don’t necessarily dislike muslims…..
yes
No, it doesn’t bother me at all. Everyone has a right to their own beliefs. As you said his political accomplishments are more important.
Im no Christian expert but shouldnt they refrain from judging?
Faith should have nothing to do with politics, and whoever disagrees is a hypocrite with an agenda.. you want a theocracy, LEAVE THE US
Nope. Doesn’t bother me.
Political beliefs are definitely more important.
it bothers me that pple look at muslims like that
well there is the part of religion and I am a Christian, but if he has a good political set….well there have been worse
Well it doesnt bother the muslims that christians are in office, it bothers me though. Get em all out. Athiests and agnostics only. Less drama and stuff to bicker over that really makes no difference.
No, why should it? everyone has the right to do whatever religion they want, there isnt and official religion for being a polititian is there?
Doesn’t bother me at all.
didnt know but im not thrilled
no not at all…
Not at all. As long and the voters elected him fair and square, that is fine by me.
im atheist……but i found your question intresting…
no i do not mind at all…and im republican…
but if you are a christain speaking for other christians…(which you may or may not be) well than you are the most ignorant christian i know…
not all muslims want to breed hatred, if we turn agains all muslims and tarnish them with the same brush then we are as bad as those that breed hatred
No. Because as a true Christian I follow the guidelines set by the bible that state that we shouldn’t judge people.
Considering that Islam is a theocratic belief system that fundamentally denies the separation of church and state, yes.
well I don’t think he was elected by a Muslim majority somewhere in Minnesota so a lot of Christians must think he’s ok
Uh, separation of church and state!?!?
I’m just happy to know he has a religion and values that go along with that. I think we need to shake things up a bit. I was born and raised Catholic and I would want nothing more than to see all religions represented by our leaders.
Ronin you’re racist….all you focus on is his religion?….
No not really. So get over it
I don’t mind as long as he doens’t try to pull any crap.
That’s like asking if we were offended that Nixon was a Mormon. Religious background doesn’t (or shouldn’t) have an effect on how they perform their duties. As long as he is serving the people the way he is supposed to, he is doing his job fairly.
It doesn’t bother me at all.
As a Christian, I try not to hold any ill-will toward others, even those who do not hold the same beliefs as I do. After all, if God loves all of his children – even those who turn their back from him – I should love all of the creatures on this earth, as well.
not really. as long as he keeps his Muslim ideas out of his work, it doesn’t really matter what he does. the same thing go to every politicians in America.
no, what’s disturbing is that he is a radical leftist, probably a marxist…and voters still get sucked into that ideology as if it were historically successful.
No, I put my faith in God and trust no one in politics!
that doesnt bother me because im a christian but it bothers me because im a egyptian christian n the muslims over there called aloota people in my family cuz were christian
no…I think he/she is probably more bothered since they are serving in a Christian based government and country.
Evidently not — he couldn’t have gotten into office if he hadn’t been duly elected by his (mostly Christian) constituency…
Unfortunately, the United States Congress is a den of thieves, regardless of the religious affiliations.
Ronin,
I do not believe his religious beliefs should be a problem for us any more than any other public official is. Should it be a problem? Are YOU worried about him?? Have a great weekend.
Thanks,
Eds
.
so it dosn t mater
what are u trtin tio state
everyone is born equal
and to fo as they please
I really don’t care what religion a person decides to belong to. With politicians I judge them by their accomplishments and how they help the people.
Of course it doesn’t bother me.
Based on the tone of the question, It seems that you are thinking it would bother Christians more than any other non-Muslim.
That is just as wrong as a Christian thinking that a Muslim does not have the right to be in Congress.
It doesn’t bother me at all.You should look at his political views and accomplishments.
No and it shouldn’t bother any Christian if they are a real Christian. Religious intolerance is one of the reasons the world is in such turmoil now. Christians are supposed to love and accept everyone despite religion or any other characteristic.
WHY SHOULD IT!!!!!!! Isn’t it a sin to judge another. Thats what is bringing every religion down, people judging others yet they suppose to live by the bible and 10 commandments.
oh god are you racist. really, come on.
doesn’t bother me. lots of people have private lives. if his record and political accomplishments benefit the US then his religious beliefs do not matter. they only matter if he or anyone else for that matter cannot put aside their religious beliefs when making important decisions. being muslim does not mean the person is always a threat or a terrorist as so many think. i may not agree with the finer points of the person’s religion but that is why in this great nation we have freedom of religion…we can all believe what we want.
How about Freedom of Religion?
Who cares? Look at the President……..dude is a backwood God fearing nit wit………and you are worried about a Congressman?
The Christian in the White house scares me far more.
nope.
as long as he serves the needs of the people, (which is what a democracy should be, anyways) not his own.
No. It doesn’t bother me. Not one little bit. We are suppose to be a nation of religious tolerance. We have a lot of diversity, and a lot of people who have a variety of religious beliefs. If a public servant follows the will of the people, which he is suppose to do, and if he leads based on that, then he’s OK in my book.
Yes, it bothers me immensely that the American public is that ignorant to elect a Muslim to any office.
Their allegiance is not to the American public, but to the cult in which they belong.
Political accomplishments are a thing of the past. When the jihad comes to America, which side do think they’ll fall on?
